In the last couple of weeks I've started to use Twitter more. I'm increasingly interested in what it does, how it works and what I can learn from it. I'm maybe not tweeting every hour of the day, far from it in fact, but I'm beginning to understand how it can benefit me as a designer.
The John Lennon statue in Havana
As today would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday, it seems appropriate to mark the occasion with some photo's of a little known about statue of him in a park in the suburbs of Havana. I visited it in a driving tour of the city when I was in Havana a few years back.
Mirador del Río
Mirador del Río is a viewpoint situated a the very northern-most tip of Lanzarote. A sheer 475 meter cliff falls away in front of you called the Batería del Río giving amazing views of La Graciosa.
César Manrique's House
César Manrique's House is situated in Taro de Tahiche and is probably the work that best represents Manrique's artistic and personal ideals. It was built in 1968 on top of a volcanic trail from a volcanic eruption that occurred in 1730-36. It uses the natural formation of five volcanic bubbles for the main rooms within the house. The outside of the house and upper level is an inspired by the traditional architecture of Lanzarote. It's now home to The Cesar Manrique Foundation and promotes the work and ideas of Lanzarote's most famous designer.
Timanfaya National Park
Today I visited Timanfaya National Park on the north-western coast of Lanzarote. There we took took a bus tour of the mountains of fire and saw the incredible lava fields that dominate the landscape. It felt like a bus tour of mars, and I took the opportunity to take some photo's.
When you visit Paris you need to visit the Pompidou Centre. Located in the centre, in a building designed by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers the centre is a cultural institution where the visual arts rub shoulders with theatre, music, cinema, literature and the spoken word.
